HARMONY What’s New 2nd Quarter 2014

Now use HARMONY in your native language with Google Translate

One of the biggest requests we’ve received from our growing list of international subscribers is the ability to use the Harmony Web App program in different languages. Translation now allows users to utilize the full functionality in the language of their selection. Simply click the ‘select language’ button in the upper right-hand corner of the home page. All program guides will now appear in the language selected.

More ways to share your work

In addition to export to MS Word, Harmony offers several ways to share your work with others:
  • From the home screen, select any S&T tree or decision from your library and export to a .TOCXML file. Other users can then import this file with their HARMONY web app or desktop version and can be made the “Author” of this S&T.
  • You can Share an S&T tree or Decision with anyone – all you need are their email addresses. Simply click on “Share” next to S&T or Decision, and the recipients will receive an email inviting them to subscribe to the free Harmony Viewer. If they are already a Harmony user, it will simply appear in their "Shared S&Ts or Decisions" section the next time they login.   You can grant the user VIEW ONLY or CHANGE rights. Comments can be added via right-click. All users are working from the same, most up-to-date file.
  • You can also export S&Ts to MS Excel and email or share the file.

Now you can do your S&T Project Costing directly in HARMONY

Many of our users asked if we could include the option to add S&T project implementation costing at the tactic level. We thought this was a great idea, so our new version offers Project Costing functionality that allows you to specify daily rates and estimated man-days by Tactic for each Tactic participant to calculate the total S&T project implementation costs. This option is available under the new icon “Project Costing” on S&T Planning. The Project Cost is also part of the new MS Word export to enable users to use the export as a Project Proposal.

Increasing size of S&T or Decision Cloud Nodes to fit in more text

For everyone who has struggled to come up with a shorter S&T title or shorter description in a Change Matrix Cloud analysis box, we have now added an option to easily increase the size of the S&T Tree nodes or Decision Cloud boxes so you can use longer titles or include more text. Simply select the Scale from the Node Scale selection box at the bottom of your Harmony Web App page.

Export S&T Project Gantt to MS Word and Excel

Many users are starting to use Harmony to manage their S&T or Decision Resolution implementation projects. For those that want the flexibility to manipulate Project planning or execution data from Harmony, we have added the ability to Export the S&T Project Gantt chart as a separate worksheet when the user exports their S&T Tree into MS Excel or MS Word.

Helpful Tips and Tricks

Our Team shares some of our favorite tips for ease of use and productivity in Harmony:
  • You can easily move nodes around in the S&T by clicking and dragging on the top right hand corner of a node. When you start building an S&T, its not always clear in which level or sequence a node (change initiative) belongs. Don’t worry- It’s easy to rearrange once you get started!
  • Use the Throughput Accounting model in the S&T Validation Module to estimate the Low, Likely and High expected financial impacts of any node and then roll these up to the level 1 node to check if there is sufficient buffer to meet the company's target.
  • Add or delete a Grouping on a node, by selecting the grey line and click “Allocate/ De-allocate Node to Group”.
  • When there is any resolved decision loaded in My Decisions Library, the “Import Node” button is active and can be used to add the best practice solution derived from your Decision to your S&T Tree. Simply select the decision(s) you want to load from the homepage and then open the S&T.
